Greetings, members , partners, and friends.

Please plan to join us at a Strategic Engagement Luncheon at:

This Is It BBQ and Seafood Restaurant (Conference Room)
2853 Panola Road, Lithonia 30058
Tuesday, December 14, 2021
12 noon until 2 pm

We will be planning an exciting year of business opportunities, business development workshops, and networking opportunities for 2022, and we would love to have your input. As the Covid-19 pandemic situation improves, we would love to renew our engagement with organizations such as Dekalb County Government (Annual Business Forum), Georgia Piedmont Technical College (Annual Student Scholarship Breakfast), Georgia DOT (Entrepreneurship training), the Small Business Development Center at Georgia State University, the US Small Business Administration (SBA), and other local civic and governmental organizations.

Please bring your ideas on how we can improve small businesses and the communities we serve, and let’s all look forward to a good time of food and fellowship, and the opportunity  to network and gain useful information that could benefit our own businesses. Also, please bring a friend, especially the younger entrepreneurs (under the age of 40). Peace and blessings to all,

SDBA Board of Directors (2021)

Lu Woodson, President

Greetings, members and friends of the South Dekalb Business Association.

I hope that you are all doing ok, and that your business is surviving this awful pandemic. The year 2020 was a year like none we have ever seen. We need to all join together and work towards a strong rebound in the local economy, with special emphasis on the local business community.

We can be thankful that the Small Business Administration is seeing the need for helping by making available a second round of Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans. If you have not taken advantage of this opportunity yet, the deadline for applying is March 31. Although the second phase of this program allows businesses broader uses of the funds than the first phase, you still need to use at least 60 percent of the funds toward payroll in order to qualify for loan forgiveness.

It is my aim that the year 2021 will see the South Dekalb Business Association improve on its function to reach and enhance local businesses. If you know of qualified and motivated people in the local business or political community who can share useful information with our membership, please speak to me about these individuals. I would like for us to get together via Zoom in the near future. Please mark your calendars for Thursday, February 25, at 6:30 pm. In the meantime, please start thinking about engaging events to fill our calendar for this year.

I would like to thank the SDBA Board Members who have sacrificed time and worked so hard to advance the mission of our organization over the past year.

Your dedication and support will not be forgotten. Peace and blessings to all.

The South DeKalb Business Association’s (SDBA) mission is to promote commercial prosperity and enhance the quality of life within the South DeKalb community. The SDBA acts as a united advocate for positive change and development and provides a forum for addressing business and community issues.

  • Began in the mid-1970s as The South DeKalb Mall Merchant Association (SDMMA)
  • Became the Candler Area Business Assocation (CABA) in the 1980s
  • Broadened its reach to cover the growing South DeKalb Business area and changed its name to the South DeKalb Business Association (SDBA)
  • Actively been involved in encouraging and supporting economic development in the South DeKalb Community
